Anna and Nicole would like to invite you to our next Transition to Secondary School group on the 18th of October at 1pm online via zoom. We will be joined by Gemma Bryan.
Gemma Bryan is married with two kids, Billy aged 14 and Isla aged 12. Isla is autistic and received her diagnosis when she was 3.
Since then she has set up many local support groups for disabled people and their families and started a blog, ‘Islas voice’ on Facebook about their life and journey with autism. She won a BAP blog award for educating people about autism a few years ago.
Gemma has been a school governor for 4 years, in special education, primary for 4 years and more recently secondary, supporting parents through any issues, struggles and transition periods.
A year ago she started working for the local authority as a family voice representative, ensuring everything in her region is coproduced with families and services shaped using the views of parents and carers in her area.
She has a real passion for helping families because when Isla was diagnosed all these years ago she never felt so alone and isolated and Gemma doesnt want other families to have to navigate the world of send on their own.
Together we are stronger.
