Could you be a Family Voice Surrey volunteer?

We are currently looking for ‘ambassadors’ who have experience of a particular area of need, knowledge of a specific setting or are able to offer a skill to help us grow Family Voice Surrey. This would allow us to input across a wider sphere of topics that are relevant to children and young people with additional needs and disabilities.

As a volunteer or volunteer school rep you will get:

Induction, training and reimbursable expenses,
Opportunities to develop new skills,
Opportunities to be part of a committed, capable team,
Opportunities to use your families SEND experience, or your professional skills or just your common sense, to truly make a difference,
The satisfaction of being involved in something very worthwhile and important.

Help shape better services for children and young people with SEND across Surrey

Family Voice Surrey is the official parent carer forum for families of children and young people (aged 0–25) with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We work alongside families, education, health and local authority partners to ensure parent carer voices influence services through genuine co-production.

Engagement Officer (2 roles)

Help capture, represent and amplify the collective voice of parent carers

Our Engagement Officers build trusted relationships with families across Surrey, gathering feedback through events, conversations, surveys and community outreach. They ensure parent carer experiences are represented as collective themes that help shape local services and decision-making.

10 hours per week (term time only)
Hybrid working
Regular travel across Surrey
Approximately 2–3 office days per month
£28,860 FTE (pro rata)

Seldom Heard Voices Officer (2 roles)

Ensure every family has the opportunity to be heard

This role focuses on engaging families whose voices are less frequently represented. Initially one role will be concentrating on Emotionally Based School Non-Attendance (EBSNA). You’ll build trusted relationships, reduce barriers to participation and ensure lived experience informs service improvement and co-production.

10 hours per week (term time plus 2 flexible summer weeks)

Regular travel across Surrey
Approximately 2 office days per month
£28,000 FTE (pro rata)

Communications Lead (1 role)

Tell the stories that inspire change

We’re looking for an experienced Communications Lead to develop and deliver engaging communications that raise awareness of Family Voice Surrey’s work, strengthen our profile and keep families, partners and stakeholders informed.

This role will lead communications across digital, print and stakeholder channels, ensuring everything we produce is clear, accessible, engaging and consistent with our brand. Working closely with colleagues, volunteers and trustees, you’ll help promote our aims, events and initiatives while growing engagement with our audiences.

You’ll be responsible for

Developing and delivering the organisation’s communications plan
Creating engaging content for the website, newsletters, social media and printed materials
Managing and growing our digital and social media presence
Supporting campaigns, consultations and events
Working with colleagues to share stories of impact
Maintaining brand consistency across all communications
Monitoring communications performance and recommending improvements
