It is with sadness that we share the news that Benedicte is stepping down as CEO of Family Voice Surrey. You can read the full message from our Chair, Sally Allen, below.

I’m writing on behalf of the Trustees, to let you know that Benedicte Symcox has decided to resign as Chief Executive of Family Voice Surrey and will be leaving us on 31st July 2022. The Trustees were sorry to accept her resignation but understand that this was the right choice for her.

Benedicte leaves FVS in a strong position and can rightfully be proud of all that she has achieved for the organisation and for you as our members. We are sure you will join us in thanking her wholeheartedly for all her efforts to ensure that it is common practice for the voices of families living in Surrey are heard.

A message from Benedicte: “When I took on this leadership role three years ago, I hoped to achieve two things: to make FVS a positive workplace that attracted more parent carers to represent different experiences; and to make the work of the forum more visible both to partners and members.

We’ve moved a long way in three years, and I hope I’ve achieved those aims with the amazing FVS team working together for families. As an organisation, we are maturing, and I look forward to seeing FVS grow and continue to speak up for all the families we represent!

For my part, I’m in need of new opportunities – my roots as a musician are calling me! I’m also soon to become a grandmother, and that is something that I feel I need to honour with my time and emotions.

I want to thank everyone I’ve worked with over the years. Family Voice Surrey has really been a little family to me, and the relationships I’ve made both within and outside of the organisation make a precious part of the person I’m becoming. For that, I’m truly grateful.”

As a Board of Trustees, we would welcome the opportunity to hear from you if you would like to know more about how we are going forward to ensure a smooth transition from Benedicte’s forward journey and the recruitment of a new Chief Executive, as well as how we plan to continue to our work to strengthen the family voice across Surrey. Please do get in touch with us at trustees@familyvoicesurrey.org.

You can also catch Benedicte on Friday 27th May on Facebook Live where she’ll be happy to answer your questions. Please do email any questions you have to her at benedicte.s@familyvoicesurrey.org.
