Our FVS summer quarterly quantitative data survey was based on the Short Breaks Offer in Surrey.
Our aim was to highlight the importance of the Short Breaks Play and Leisure Schemes for children and young people (CYP) and their families, and identify the challenges they have been facing since April 2023.
Our survey comprised of 15 questions and was open for 4 weeks from 19th June to 16th July. We received a total of 231 responses.
We shared the report and our recommendations with the Short Breaks team at SCC at the end of July and they embraced our findings.
We agreed to share our findings with members alongside a formal response on the recommendation from the Short Breaks team in August. Unfortunately, we don’t yet have the response from SCC, so we are sharing our findings now and will share the response as soon as we receive it.
In addition, the analysis has been shared with the Select Committee.
At FVS we recognise the impact that the reduction of Play and Leisure Schemes in Surrey is having on CYP and their families and we have been consistently raising and challenging SCC on this.
We have made some clear recommendations based on the statistical survey results and we look forward to working with the Short Breaks team and the Select Committee on them. We will of course keep you updated on our progress.
Lastly, we would like to thank all the parent carers who took the time to complete our survey.
