Entries needed to be a response to the statement….
‘What do you think is important to feel like part of a community and to be included?’
The responses could be told through a story, poem, photograph, painting, voice note; it was your choice, there were no boundaries.
We had a great response and it was an honour and a pleasure to see such a variety of creative and authentic work from the children.
1st Place was a song from Bea
She decided to submit a song she wrote in response to the statement. To her, feeling valued in a community includes having things staying the same. Having continuity is so important to her, especially when others respect that need. The song she wrote, “the same”, is a song she wrote from the idea of not having that continuity, something or somebody just suddenly leaving her life. She wanted to take that idea and portray the effect it would have on her mentally and how she’d process and cope with it.
