Invitation to Participate in the SEND Improvement Review

Following the Area SEND inspection of Surrey’s Local Area Partnership in 2023, the Additional Needs & Disability (AND) Partnership published an updated strategy and improvement plan. An independent SEND advisor from the DfE is carrying out a review of our improvement journey. This will help us assess the progress we have made and what we still need to do, ahead of the next inspection in 2026.

How are parent carers involved?

The DfE advisor wants to get feedback from a small group of parent carers who have had recent firsthand experience of the AND Partnership and SEND services over the last year, since the improvement plan was updated.

The advisor is keen to hear from parent carers who have recent experience of the AND Partnership and SEND services over the last 12 months and those with experience of alternative provision.

We will be running two one-hour sessions online next Thursday 13th February 2025:

  • Session one (12.30-1.30pm) will focus on our communication and relationships, timeliness and quality of statutory work and looking at the impact and outcomes of the work we are doing.
  • Session two (1.30-2.30pm) will be specifically for parent carers with recent experience of Alternative Provision.

The DfE are keen to gain a wide range of views and feedback, spaces for these two online sessions are limited. If the group reaches capacity, or if you are not able to attend for any other reason, there will be an opportunity to share your written feedback via a survey. Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

The Surrey AND Partnership Board will also be arranging further opportunities to share your views and experiences with us next term for those of you who are unable to attend these sessions.

Why Your Feedback Matters

Parent Carers have invaluable insights from their experiences. Your feedback will directly contribute to the evaluation of our progress, what is working well and where improvements are needed.
